good morning to all, does any of you have a form in which there are the basic formulas for calculating axial forces and maximum torque transmitted by a double overlapping joint? Thank you.
I would say the truth makes little sense to calculate the moment.... what then? if you submit to bending in one of the joint planes makes sense to speak of a stinging moment. the maximum torque you would get on circular flange joints. If you have Eurocodes, however, check all the various points because there is probably an indication of what is meant at the time of the jointThe problem I have to solve is the following:
in figure 1 is represented a double overlap bolted joint having the size shown in figure (inch size). assuming that the bolts used are of type m12 – class 8.8, determine
a) the maximum axial force transmissible for friction and cutting.
b) the maximum torque that can be transmitted from the joint
the data necessary for calculation is freely used.
Now, I've studied what the Eurocode says about cutting and friction resistance, but I can't find anything about the "maximum transmissible couple" and the "maximum transmissible axial force".
theoretically I have already verified the joint to friction, to cut, to recroach and to break of the sheet, but how to calculate those values a) and b)? advice?
