sheet: flange edge "disputable"

hi to all, having to join 2 lips of staggered sheet metal each other, we used the edge command flange:
we would have expected him to behave well and that he would join us with b and c with d (type sweep) instead makes the spiteful ...

to solve we had to add cuts and extrusions...

Is it normal that you behave like that or do we miss any options or tricks?
how would you get the final sheet?

It's a big mess.
the ideal would start with the central body, but if you have to rely on an external profile I wouldn't do the flange sketches like that.
I would do a sketch on the right side of the sheet profile (it would be a sort of tilted c), I would do the basic sheet function and then I would cut the excess by making a sketch on the front floor or by making plans of delimitation
