Good morning.
I am making with autocad 2012 a metal staircase with very processed iron steps obtained with extrusions and subtractions.
When I go to copy them or move them auocad slows down immediately and goes to snaps... is it normal? which settings should I change to make these operations faster? The orbit and the pan make me do them without problems... .
computer is an asus s56c intel core i7 - 1,9ghz, sch. graphics nvidia geforce gt 635 with 2gb of dedicated memory.. . .
Thank you.

How much system ram do you have available? 32 or 64 bit system? how much does the file you generated weigh on disk? how much you save, go out and go in?

ho 4 giga di ram, sistema a 64 bit (windows 8) ed il file pesa 5 mb....

normally the s.o. between services, various ornaments and cotillones, commits more or less the destination of the ram you have.
autocad takes about 200mb (at least 2010, 2012 I don't know). so you stay not so much (you can view it by giving ctrl-alt-canc -> start management activity -> performance card).
every time you change your autocad design keeps it in ram both the edited part, and a premodified copy (to allow the grape). download from the ram this data only at the closing of the drawing (you will no longer need the grapes).
so if you change 40 times the heavy solids you have, it's actually like you're "copying" them to every change, until you save and get out. It is easy to assume that you completely saturate the ram, and autocad uses the paging file, downloading part of the ram on disk and loading it when needed. and from this comes a decrease of remarkable performance.
Try to see what happens if when you have the problem saved, close and reopen the dwg. if it returns to the "normal" performance, I think you'll need a good injection of ram (I'd say that another 4 wouldn't hurt us in that machine)
