Bye to all,
I wanted to have 2 information about smartteam:
first, is it included in the installation cds of catia? we have the hd2 base license, I have seen that I can activate the smartteam toolbar, but I can't figure out how to install it on the server, and then try to dismantle us a little...
The other is this: without a pdm, can you be able to give ownership to files, a mò di vpm, to avoid that by mistake two clients work and save the same file on the server? or a check in/check out type windchill or smarteam precisely. in our company we have 3 cad stations, the models are located on a server, and it is a classic that in 2 you open the same overall, and even if you work on different part the probability that there are overlays of saving is high....you could not for example give a user name in a string of the file and make a macro x save that prevents saving if the username currently logged in windows is different from the username of the string of the

smartteam is a separate license and is also a separate software.
then you have to have the smart team installation cd, then you have to lean on a database that you need to install on the server that can be either oracle or sql or db2 and then you don't know which others are now available............. When they installed it, they threw us out a bit, so I think it's not so "user friendly" the installation.
for use has its rules, as I think all the pdms, I have done at the time a course and it worked well, then you should use it for work every day and I think it is a very powerful medium .
Of course, it's all packaged, and it's just, like, a stupid thing you might need to get a license that does 1000 things you don't need.
from us were purchased 4 licenses + db but we never let it go we only did the course + examples on some files ............. .
I don't remember much but the little I used it worked with plm techniques. check-in and out the various revisions, the voult the very useful thing was that you dated from the part or product to the drawing.................. .
If you want to make a demo I recommend you spacesystem, they have very qualified staff with smarteam ..................

cmq also spoke of a compact version that had to be implemented in catia ........................ I've never seen her. I think she was called express. .

we have smarteam and use it daily in about 50 users.
if well set works well and is perfectly integrated with catia v5.
It manages revisions, large assemblies, a good plm even if low-end.
has now been purchased by dassault and has actually incorporated it into the enovia packages.
we are evaluating to pass to enovia v6 but still we have not defined if and when.

greetings you can add to your hd2 license a smarteam license (defined tdm)
with that license you can integrate catia v5 and manage documents (microsoft + pdf).
costs compared to the past are very affordable.
in Italy there are many operational references of smarteam ask some partners.
