qlcn can recommend on a "pdm" or management for solidworks and dwg drawings...
some sort of archive where I can search for the drawings. .
I used autodesk producstream where I worked before, but I was looking for lighter qlc, and maybe free.

something you should already have, have you tried solidworks explorer?

in solidworks environment there is not a great deal of free, if you have an office there is pdm works but I never tried it and it turns out very limited.
as paid solutions distributed in Italy by official retailers there are:

-solidworks enterprise pdm
-dbworks of mechworks
-dbcent (newmacut group)
-ready2works (of readysolutions)

I use this last one and I feel good, the others don't know them, I've only seen them screaming.

Keep in mind that a pdm works well when it is well integrated with the business workflow, a free solution that leaves the responsibility of this operation to a cad operator (which does not pdm of trade) is a more than questionable choice, I think it is better to lose the pdm.
