solidworks e pc gaming

Hi.
yesterday to a friend arrived the new alienware laptop and to prove its performance we also installed solid and tried with a combination medium sized mold, the result was amazing I didn't see the software run so well even on last generation portable workstations. Does anyone have experiences about it and maybe have tested its reliability for 8/10 working hours?

Although I have never been able to test personally, I am convinced that a gaming station is more performing and less expensive than a workstation that obliges you to buy. maybe the picture video cards though on many pieces together is more performing.
it would be interesting to try and see how far a gaming station is able to make shoes to a wks.

I personally believe that a workstation is increasingly reliable, in several respects, such as performance stability over time. This is what I have always found, even because today I also use a ws of 10 years! Moreover unlike the past today it is increasingly required that the pc complies with the standards they dictate, although this is not always true, found x personal experience. If you have a problem and need assistance and you don't have a certified ws you may have problems. So, from my point of view, it could be risky to have the main machine not certified.

In these days I have tried better the alien with axiemi (stampi) doing also various injection simulations and I have to confirm the first impression, the laptop behaves much better than my zbook. Perhaps as drake says it is not suitable to be the 1st machine but surely to take the job home is perfect, I know that at the next pc change I will make the final test

hi guys hook me up to the discussion xthat it's time to buy a new pc. I thought I would take a laptop, as it would be my second pc. then reading on the forum you talk well about PC type gaming and I would like your last opinions before proceeding to purchase. Do you confirm that it is not wrong to take a gaming machine? I also saw a product that looks very attractive to asus with amd ryzen technology. do you know of any incompatibility with sw and professional software in general? Thank you.

Unfortunately each model has hardware to itself and nn is said that there is no incompatibility. I got to try solidwork and autocad on various pcs nn certificates and nin I never had problems but I know that someone had them. nothing serious maybe you return to the old drivers but still can arise troubles. I can tell you that I also tried a rx580 on a fixed u and also this gpu has behaved very well half of so many painting.

The same thing happened to me with a fix. exactly an asus g11 with i7-6700 - 32 gb of ram - ssd m.2 and geforce gtx 980 you with 6 gb of dedicated rams. solidworks turns better on this than a last generation z440 with p4000 picture. has an impressive reactivity, it works realview by adding a key in system logs. the problem is performance stability over time. just taken it was fine, then an update of win and "saved" from the graphic point of view. returned "super" after a further update of win. no problem with prolonged work sessions. Therefore, in conclusion, it is worth it but if it is a second machine or if anyway there is an additional pc on which to work.

thanks guys x your opinions. what you say is objective and unfortunately it must always be well present. I'm seeing both notebook gaming and workstations. clear is a laptop and it is a second machine, but perhaps it is better to avoid having problems, even if today win updates itself completely autonomously without giving you the possibility to choose, unless you completely shut down the machine from the network, which is not to be excluded unfortunately. I am currently oriented to take a workstation more than a gaming. I am particularly evaluating the hp, d and lenovo models, both from gaming and from workstations. see if any other user will tell his experience.

hi are new to the forum but for years I have been interested in hardware and frankly the discussion is interesting even if already dealt on other forums such as those of graphics and the unanimous conclusion is that there is only one problem to use gaming components rather than pro for pro applications, drivers; to make an example if you consider the hardware components that nvidia mounts on a p4000 picture board do not approach even for joke to the full of 1080vidia software

definitely for professional use a workstation makes more, it is designed for that... sure if one has to take his job home and maybe he has a good gaming family with double os content all the family doing well cad and allowing his wife and children to enjoy good multimedia entertainment. I am now working with a rig built to minare eth, and with a good processor and one of the rx580 mounted on the 16x slot and dedicated to the work I can minare make go solid and possibly play without quitting minare. only flaw is a noisy little and heats like a stove but in a while I know how to mount the rig even in company so mino work and the company discharges the current from the taxes... Will they arrest me? ? ).
