Hello.
I have never been used to the programs of the ansys line (I have always found them very ostic), however having to perform a fluid dynamic anlysis I need fluent.

I designed an object with solidworks and I successfully imported it into gambit.
from gambit I cannot save it so that fluent can read it; What do I do?

gambit saves me only in .dps format (along with other 4 files scattered); When I try to charge it, I get the following errors:
Code:
reading "| utility fe2ram -tgambit -d3 c:\users\user\desktop\prova.dbs"...

error: bad syntax. usage:
utility fe2ram dimension read_format zoning write_format [inputfile [outputfile]]
 utility fe2ram dimension read_format zoning write_format [inputfile [outputfile]♪
size: [-d2 | -d3 | -surface]

building...
     grid,
error: null domain pointer

error object: ()
thanks in advance.

Hello, thank you for responding.
I have fluent 6.3.26 and gambit 2.4.6 (acted with xming instead of exceeding because the first is free unlike the second).

Then,

to import mesh into fluent, you have to export it from gambit as a ".msh" file.
then, once you create mesh, boundary conditions and other in gambit, go to file-->export-->mesh and save it as file ".msh"!

then open fluent, go to file-->read--case> and open the newly created ".msh" file!
I suggest you go to display-->grid and check that everything is ok.

Good job!

thanks to his help I managed to import several tests, however after drawing a 3d element and exported to .msh fluent gives me this error:
Code:
> reading "c:\users\user\desktop\aletto.msh"...
    5145 nodes.
588 mixed wall faces, zone 2.
    1336 mixed pressure-outlet faces, zone 3.
    4894 mixed pressure-far-field faces, zone 4.
3427 mixed wall faces, zone 5.
error: no cells in zone, id = 0, ind1 = 1, indn = 0reading cells: failed while reading section 12.
       clearing partially read grid.
Do I have to do it again?

when you import a ".msh" geometry in fluent, this must be completely "meshata". I think there are some areas that exist, but that were not meshate.
My advice is to scrupulously check, also doing very close zoom so be sure you haven't forgotten anything.

Alternatively, you can also do so: right of the yellow bar, where top selections, edges, faces or volumes, there is a button with the arrow up; click on it and open an interface where on the bottom left there is written "no filter", press on, and in there, you can choose to view the "unmeshed" parts. Of course you have to do it for edges, faces and volumes.

I'm sure that this way you'll find enough soon the domain part to put in place.

I hope my directions help you.

Bye!

thanks to your precious advice I managed to meshare correctly, subdivide in blocks the element 3d, save it and import it on fluent.
thanks for the time spent.

I'd like to ask you one more question for clarity about boundary defiance: having to analyze an alettone (composed by attack/exit board, profile, etc...) how do I set the various parts?

I mean the matches to the fields: pressure_inlet/outlet, pressure_far_field, velocity_inlet and especially wall.

Thanks again.

I'm sorry, Rizz, isn't that you have documentation for gambit 2.4.6? Could you send it to me somehow?
