spheres that recreate a design

Good morning.
I remember a tutorial explaining how to create a "wall" of parameterized spheres so that they rotated according to a basic design. the spheres were half black and half white and, rotating, recreated the design set previously.
Unfortunately I have no idea where I read it and I would like to know if you can help me!

Do you have an image? This is possible. you can do with a repetition of a panel. repetition could be controlled from one point, or aleatory.

No... I don't have an image or tutorial or what I have to do, simply because I wanted to try to do it to practice and I don't know exactly what I would do.
