start swx with specific settings

see if the forum is faster than assistance :)

I should set swx for 3 different customers (different bookcases, different standard parts, different carts and default tables, different geoemtric entities colors, ...) and I can't replicate what I did with proe/creo. in that case in fact only one installation and 3 icons connected to the launch file in which the workbook was changed (in which there was a specific "config-pro" that managed the "personality").

in swx it is possible to do something like this or I have to do 3 installations  ?

It's not very immediate, but you can save the customer's specific settings in a *.reg file, and then import it before working for that customer. There's a special menu in the folder

start/program/swx/instruments/guide setting for copying

generally all swx settings are defined at user level and not system level, so the thing works.

Okay, thank you. I'll try.

Hello, matteo,
like creo and other cads, it would be nice also in sw a txt file of configuration, but ahimè, demand made many times and now I no longer want to fight lost battles.
This means that, although the hunting tip is correct, it is valid only after setting up at least one installation, since all settings are on the windows registry.

we hope that they provide at least with the new swxv6 (alias "catia light" alias "swx2014bis") :)

but what's the difference between the reg file and the txt file?

always that at least once the settings you have to do, whether you save them in a reg file or in a txt file, at the end the engagement is not very different.

I agree with soliduser, although for the user changes little is not the maximum to rub the logs with this lightness. an internal swx system would be better.

the procedure puts hand to user logs, not system logs, so the risk of creating problems is low, as well as not requiring admin permissions to work. to me it seems a good system, so far it has never given me problems (I used it when I had to transfer swx from one machine to another safeguarding the settings).

all, do not confuse the fact that the formatting of the two files is the same.
is the content that is different.
do you know how to set template paths in a .reg file?
in a config file...you use variables and impose the value, which will be identical for version cad and version windows.
today solidworks memorizes the path of templates in one registry entry and tomorrow in another, different then from version of os.
a reg file you must have it before, extrapolated by an installation.
a config file you can create it first by hand.
Only those who used solidworks and other cad understand the stupidity of how solidworks is configured.
How many times did sw happen to behave abnormally and unstable because a register voice has corrupted?
ask for support of solidworks how many times it solved problems by resetting the sw log.

One day I show you how solid edge is configured: between custom.xls, various vattelapesca.txt and log files, transferring an installation is a work of valuables... .
