recovering the discussion of re_soldiworks
I would like to share my needs.

in the evaluation of plant products are encapsulated in the cis-2 and sdnt files (steel detailing neutral format) that export carpenter bones recognizing the used profiles that must be completed in details.

sw directly recognizes the files quoted only by application for carpentry (in the case of sw those mentioned in object).

it turns out that steelworks can read only sdnt and builtworks while loading them both did not answer me yet.

would be a nice shot to manage carpenters and design of mechanical devices.

every advice is welcome.

I have been observing these two products for a long time, of steelworks I have made a demo and as already said, very powerful and fast in modeling, but the part of the table was not yet developed and from how the details are modeled I do not know how to dress them by hand.
builtworks I saw it last night, I saw that it is made in lituania, graphically and at the management level joints I seem less performing than steelworks, but it is an impression deriving from only video demos.

Hello everyone,
I am new to this forum, normally I write in others, but I noticed the discussion.
as I also said in another forum (not cad3d) I find myself in the condition of having to model an industrial shed with solidworks, inside which then my client will have to place machinery, of which already has the axiemi solidworks.
Now that I have seen that these two solutions exist I will try to inform myself too.
I already sent emails.

by experience if you have to make a shed you can also do it with the only welding environment without big pathes (side files).
at the limit you can consider a set composed of the same part in welded with various configurations.

with the standard environment everything is done, the problem is only time. to model a shed with steelworks serves 1 hour, with solidworks and it only takes one day or almost (of course depends on the shed).
the more joints are different between a span and the other more steelworks is beneficial in terms of time.
the problems related to lists and markings I solved them via pdm, in which it was developed specifically for the carpentry the function of automatic marking of the pieces. something really smart and functional has come out, but it is not yet on the market as I am testing it well and needs some small touch up.

I know you do everything, in fact for this time I will do so but a product like that would make me very comfortable.
while amv responded immediately (in one hour), solidarity still has to answer me. Did you dance?
However, I will have a demo of steelworks shortly. I'll let you know.

I only contacted amv and had a demo. I don't know. .
I agree with re_sw,

amv is made to feel immediately and the chatter was complete.
as far as I look at the 2011 version
(the one that will integrate cis-2 files or sdnf "steel detailing neutral format")

The other gentlemen didn't even answer. (for me this is already an answer... )

I conclude with the directions a few minutes ago. the various tekla used by ns partners export only in neutral and therefore would not streamline too much workflow. I would therefore use the imported details only as a basis to develop our devices in sw.

good work,
dancer

Did they tell you about the automatic drawing of the boards? When I saw the demo there was not yet and they told me they were preparing it. . .

Hello, King.
the info I asked mainly about importing from plant environments.
As soon as I shake off a work p I arrange a full meeting.

Hi.
I would add to the discussion that strucad (other cad for carpentry) import/export cis-2 and sdnf.
greetings,
doc

with tekla you can optimize the work by modeling the structure and automatically obtaining the drawings of the same. in tekla you would also be able to insert even the machines if modeled with software that export in the formats ifc dwg dxf step iges sdnf cis etc. we use this method for the piping of the plants that for convenience are modeled with specific software and then imported into tekla for the control of the interferences and for the modeling of the supports.
alternatively you can join the various projects using free software always of the same company called tekla bimsight and you can download from www.teklabimsight.com
