stl file to edit with catia v5

hello to all the problem is this recently I made laser scanning of a bike codone to make with the cnc a carbon mold. the file they gave me is in stl and when I open it with catia v5 to get the negative it considers me a component but I can't work it.
Does anyone know how to give me some tips? They told me to turn it into stp you know if it is correct? Thank you.

being a stl file then polygonal to get to have a step (with catia vs) you have to get the sections and rebuild it with the surfaces.

a second solution could be to carry out the cnc directly on the stl.

possibly the stl file can be manipulated with typize shape editor or shape sculptor to manipulate the cloud of points, but it is to assess the complexity of what you have to achieve.
