stratasy vs. 3dsystems

Good morning to all,

the company for which work has in plan to buy a fdm printer to speed up the realization of prototypes. we are considering the f123 series of stratasys but I would like to consider also 3d systems that also proposes other types of machines such as sla, sls and polyjet.
Do you have experiences with these two houses? Are their machines overlapping as features?
with the cost of a fdm printer it is possible to evaluate also other types of printing, or does the outlay differ much?

I do not disagree with the comparison of the two brands as I have no direct experience.
to answer the last question, being fdm the cheapest technology I do not believe that the cost of a sla, sls or polyjet printer can be comparable.
Also remaining on fdm technology alone the price of the printer can differ for example for precision and printing size, number of extruders and type of material that you can print.
provided that the type of printing technology also depends on the shape of the product that you have to get and the use that you do, in addition to switching to a different technology, you could also evaluate more performing fdm printers that allow a wider choice of printable material to better fit your needs.

before making such an important purchase assess well what degree of accuracy you want in the 3d prints of the company prototypes, which use you intend to make (exthetic or functional?) and then it would be better to inform yourself well on the costs of the materials, the necessary equipment for the treatment of the prints and "dulcis in fundo" on the cost of post-sale assistants. the more you demand from the machines and the more the costs are high. I only tell you that a service 3d systems out of warranty and without the usual maintenance contract "ciuccia money" in the sense that if in that year you have never broken the printer, you paid and just paid; costs 120,00€/hour and if then to solve the problem go for attempts and start changing pieces for exclusion, the account becomes salty.

hi, I use a 3dsystem mjp and a hp5200, if you need info ask as well. from an external service we made the pieces in fdm years ago but now for our needs we use almost exclusive hp (for production)
