structural elements: help for separate cut

hello to everyone from the crusher, who by now almost no longer leaves the garage:)

I am using swx2013
I created a simple welded tubular frame that I will then have to make externally. I practically never use the structural elements so it is probable (at least hope) that I'm losing to a glass of water.

premise:
I am using profile bookcases reported here Useful resources for solidworks users. the folders contained the various profiles are placed in the default path and I see them correctly in the dialog box when selecting the schetch that guide the profiles.

the problem is this:
in the table setting, when I create the cut distinction, I can not have the automatic completion of the column "description" with the profile measurements. the item "description" did not appear among the custom properties of column header and to have it available in the appropriate drop down menu I had to add that item in the custom properties of the feature "savings" at the top of the feature tree within the part.
the strange thing is that if I use the default swx profiles the description column is correctly compiled. So I think I'm jumping a few steps into the definition of property.
thanks to who can give me some tips

m.

the properties of the cut distinction correspond to the properties of the profile file. compare one of those found in the forum with one of the default ones.
for the description, by memory, you must insert in the profile properties the variables that identify the size.
I think I explained it a long time ago, when I get home, I try to search.

Thanks massive. I tried to make comparisons between the default profiles and those of the added library but I couldn't find the barge. It is not necessary to solve, because I can also insert the profile measurement in the table by hand, but I would like to understand where the hippo is, because all the profiles of that library, if I checked well, do not allow the automatic insertion of the description. bear patience but are functions that do not use or use very little, such as customization of properties.

I found a discussion I hope you might be helpful add custom properties to the cutting listas I do not use more solidworks I can only make descriptive explanations and succubi of my bad memory.

you have to check the properties of both files because they are these that then automatically fill out the separate cut; I can't do controls, but if the default solid profiles fill out the distinct means that the properties of the separate will also find them in the file properties in the custom tab, even in those downloaded from the forum you shouldn't have any properties.

Thank you very much. I have checked and actually the "description" property is missing in the custom properties of that profile library. I also compared with the default ones and I saw that however it is not trivial the syntax because then the correct word appears in the table. for now I surrender and turn it by hand, so much are few boxes and anyway who knows when I'm going to use the structural elements.

ps. How are you with solid edge?

I thought it was worse. I certainly consider it slender having to give consensitive continuously and some things (keyboard dirciatories, repetition functions, visual manipulation) of solidworks I regret them, but I am using it only for a couple of weeks.

Good morning, everyone.
actually when I created those libraries I had not compiled the descriptions in the file properties.
One by one should be recompiled.

Well, don't look in the mouth. so thank you again for making them available!

hi marcof, it's nice to find you after so long! I wanted to do just a note. the syntax is not complex, swx reports in the folder of the welded property as it is in the part, you can write anything and he brings it back. If there is a complex syntax it could be the link between the starting graphics and the size of the sketches of the profile. this bond is very convenient because it remains also in welded and if it changes the size by editing the quota and without replacing the profile, the graphics are consistent with the measurements.
I do an example, I don't know if I explained well. If you do a frame with tubular 50x30x2 and want to switch to a 60x30x3, you just double-click the function and change the profile odds for that structural member function. the new dimensions will be propagated to all members generated by that function and if the properties are derived from the quotas, in the description will appear 60x30x3.
