I would have some questions/choices regarding subscription:

if I decided to make the annual subscription at the end of the year, what versions of solidworks could I use? (I currently have 2009)
only the last available (which I presume will be 2013 sp0)
any from 2009 to 2013 including sp?

can you download the dvd images directly so you can burn and install them directly? idem for service packs? or better are there pictures with the already included sp?

in case you do not renew your subscription the following year you can also use the 2014 sp0 if you exit before the expiry?

you can use what you have now (2009) or the last available so presumably for then will be 2013. Of course you can only use one at a time (I don't remember the licensing system on the web since 2009)

Yes, you can use all versions, including sp, which are issued during the validity period of the subscription. if you renew at the end of the year you will find yourself with the 2014 sp0, in fact imho not usable to work with serenity. However you will always find yourself with a non-complete truth of the sp, which unfortunately (it seems) now you can not get if you are out of subscription while when year ago you did not have the right to assistance but to the sp yes. in practice first with a subscription get two full releases, now one :frown:

when you return to subscription receive the current line and the versions and service packs that will be released in the next 12 months.
the cost is a little higher than a normal renewal since you pay €500.00 of "reinstallation fee".

in your case if you renew the sub you immediately receive the 2012 sp 4.0 and given the times you will arrive to a 2013 sp 3 or 4 (in 12 months).
You can download the full dvd, but it will probably give you a dealer.

It is possible and absolutely legal to have + versions installed ocn temporarily on the same workstation and in this case, only one activation to pc is used.
in a few words you can have the 2009-2010-2011 and 2012 simultaneously on 2 machines; the two machines cannot be used simultaneously.
from what I saw the latest version has the activation "master", the others work because they see the activation of the vers. more recent.
the only contraindication is the need to be very, very, very careful not to mix things with both installation files and project files.
we have thought of a + storage strategy or - error-proof, but parallel management of + versions is never simple.

Yes, as I thought. Obviously if the installations are on the same machine eek you have to download the license for example from 2010 and reload it on 2011.

hi, updating you can install all the previous versions you've missed. you will not receive any new code, simply you will be enabled to the new versions.

when you have a version you can activate the precedents, this is the rule. the previous media are not provided, the dvd of the version of that moment is provided at the reactivation of the service.
If you don't find the files (for example, you want 2007) you can ask the dvd to the dealer. the important thing is the right to do so respecting the licensing agreement.
some extra problem could arise if you want to install a 2006 or earlier as it serves the hardware key.
I still think that in this case it is enough to make the request and pay aside the key (it seems costs on 100 €) and you can use it.

Sorry but I was out and I couldn't control the forum, the media are not provided but you can download the iso from the site (which I know via ftp or other) and the sp, or better there are also the iso with the sp included to not put there 2 hours and install everything?
