Good morning, everyone.
I hope I'm in the right place.
I was asked to make the book use and maintenance of some products.
These are household appliances: filter and pumps for ponds.
I already have the text, which I am fixing, relating to safety rules, installation, maintenance, warranty.
But they asked me to insert a set of symbols to better highlight some points.
for example the triangle with the book to report reading and keeping instructions; the triangle with lightning to signal that it is safety indications, etc.
personally I would not like to put the symbols, even because then the layout goes to the table and the space increases, but if I have to do it.
My problem is I don't know where to find these symbols.
Is there anything international?
Where can I download these symbols?
Are they free?
Can anyone give me any indication?
thanks to everyone in advance.

Then:
the norm that identifies the symbols is the iso 7010 just received from the aun. of course it is paid. but there are not all pictograms.
I see you don't know the terminology. the triangle with lightning (electric charge perhaps is better) is a pittogram of danger and does not indicate something inherent to safety but means "electrocution danger".
the generic danger symbol is the yellow triangle without other symbols.
"personally I don't like symbols" is an incorrect statement.
manuals must be clear and simple and there are rules that say how to redigest them. a textbook is not clear, nor immediate especially if the electrodomestic goes to the public.
so yes to the symbols.
You can find them on the net, just use google.
I recommend, do it well otherwise if it comes in my hands then I call the producer and I make him the dick:biggrin: .... already happened! ! !

Thank you gerod.
In the meantime, you gave me the exact term, so I know what I have to look for.
for the speech to put them or not put them:
You are right that a booklet must be clear, but apart from the complications for those who write it to properly impaginate the texts, I find it unsuitable to put to each paragraph the various pictograms, especially if they are always the same.
I explain: if I have a text with paragraphs relating to safety standards and other paragraphs relating to installation procedures, I think it is much more confusing to put the respective pictograms to each paragraph.
I prefer to group, as often happens, paragraphs per topic and put as header for example "security standards" or "installation".
only that at that point I find redundant to put the pictogram, although undoubtedly at a glance it is before.
It seems to me that a "minimalist" approach makes the text more clear.
