good afternoon to all the friends of the forum
I am doing a didactic exercise on welding using ansys wb but starting from qs 2 tutorilas found on the net:the purpose is to find the loads to which the various strings are subjected and then analyze them with the usual formulas of construction of machines.
I have some doubt but before I influence you I would give you your opinions on the method, if there are others, if it is correct etc...
Remember that it is 1 is only 1 didactic exercise but for very + complex geometries, if qs funzia method, it can be useful.

thanks in advance
ps: 1 strange thing is that I don't find the output files for each cord "weld_b_fsum.lis" that I should have with the addition of the suplementary comades.

the method outlined in the first link is the method used in these cases.
the method outlined in the second link instead I would say no.

As for the output file, check the script on the apdl's help.

thank you vmax for the answer.
I also agree with the 1st method but what leaves me perplexed is that it is necessary to shape the welding cord. does not exist anything similar to the "weld joint" present in ansys classic also in wb?

thanks again

I don't think the cord is modeled, but you consider the interface between welded parts.
for the weld joint of the classic (now mechanical apdl) I do not remember, but in my opinion it was relative to welding point and not to string, although I am not sure.

Hi.
I don't know if the author of the first tutorial has actually shaped the strings (see weld image.jpg), it seems to me, but I did it (see image5.jpg) otherwise as I could have defined the necessary steps for step 1 and 2 of the same tutorial (I refer to that of the 1st tutorial).
Have you ever had a similar analysis of welding in your career?

Thank you.

I don't understand if I'm there or not, I don't put them. However both the important is the calculation of the results of the internal actions passed for welding, which you need to size and verify the cord.
