Good morning to all,

I would need to "wrap" a writing on a tree, so a round surface. do you have a specific command? are in serious difficulty.

Thank you.

with solids:
write on a sketch,
prisma function (or pocket) "up to surface" (ts dx estai the cylindrical surface), assigns an offset for penetration or surplus)

with surfaces
do the writing in a sketch
through the project command (normal condition to the surface), project the elements on the surface.

Hi.

I hope you didn't really build it in a sketcher.if you are looking in the forum I posted a text in 2d -> export it as dxf in a sketcher -> then create extrusion or pocket.

no no quiet falonet, the writing published on drawing and then in dxf etc etc... the problem was to use it on the curved parts.. .

Thank you.

Hello, everyone.
I tried to make a writing on a curved surface by sticking to your suggestions. It's obvious that what escapes me because I couldn't. could you be more explicit in the description of the steps to follow? thanks to the suggestions of ferretium with the flat surfaces went smoothly.
I wish everyone a nice evening.

Hello, everyone.
after some attempts gone empty I finally managed. I am doubtful, however, about the procedure I have used since the text I have projected on the sup. cil. is not perpendicular to it but on the plan on which I wrote the text. to obtain the effect of circularity of the text I used a sup. of cut parall. to the cylinder that I then hid. the result is acceptable but not entirely satisfactory. is there any system to ensure that the text is normal to sup. cil.? If you can't do this, I just need a no.

Hello stefano,

in the pocket definition menu you must indicate as the first limit "up to the surface" after which you must define the contours or limits of the surface where the text is to develop. the off set will be the depth of the footprint.

the only method that guarantees that the text is properly enveloped on the surface and that of transfer of the geometry tames the "development" function (by affinity between the flat surface and the deformed one the geometry is transposed).
as you see from the image the simple projection of the profile however deforms the geometry.

to inguz and I thank you felt and sincere.
as soon as I find a small time space I will try to make a writing according to the indications you have suggested. I will inform you of the result. from tomorrow for me begin the Easter holidays (I am teacher) and I leave for the Salento, my homeland.
to you, to the moderators and all the friends of the forum I make my best wishes for good holidays.

we wanted to inform you that there is a dedicated solution, type3 per catia, which allows to create graphics and writing directly in catia v5, also managing the projection and winding on surfaces optimally.

here are some useful links to information about this add-on application of catia v5:
link to product type3 for catia
download type3 brochure for catia
download an interactive type3 demo for catia
read the press release for the new type3 version for catiado not hesitate to contact us for more information.
