Good morning to all

I was trying to figure out if it is possible to do this thing I indicated in the title. to explain myself better I made this example that represents a transmission system in a vehicle purposely very stylized.

It consists of 4 wheels, 2 differentials, and 3 axes of which one central and 2 semi-axes. the difference between the central axis and the two semi-axis is that the central one is + long. to build the axes I defined a part for the central axis and one for the two semi-axis. while it would be more useful to define a generic axis part and change only the length when the axis was central or as a semi-axis.

Can you handle such a situation? I have seen that, for example, color can change but if I try to change the length is changed globally.

perhaps with ilogic, but i am not convinced by using it little or nothing (not compatible with the plm of my company). maybe those who make more everyday use can help you.

this, at least in the field of work and production, is a countersensus. axis and semi-axis are different parts, so their code must be different. i would like to thank the rapporteur for his work.

The example I proposed maybe wasn't 100% fit. Mine is also a bit of a concept speech.

imagine another case where I have to draw a gear: I am provided with the specifications (number of teeth, internal/external diam and bla bla bla bla blah) but when the design I try to define the specifications as parameters so if someone gets up in the morning and tells me that, for example, the teeth are not + 28 but 32 and the diameter becomes 7 cm I can please it without too much work.

This is not a problem within the parameters window and I change what I need to like. ok but if I want in the same together a 28 tooth gear and together one by 32? since just a gear can be created in a set, I created one of the test and went to see what it generates at low level: There is a feature called ifeature that is probably what you need to study and understand to achieve this type of functionality.

then ... after opening the file, in the browser button dx mouse on table and select edit tableI work with changes like gate 4 fields and 2 I make them become key fields (I don't understand what I'm doing but that's not the point).

I don't know what to say. Looks like you're doing everything right.

I would try:
-install latest updates;
-proving inventor reset utility;
-Contact your dealer
