typing width window textm

autocadlt2012: in a textm I can no longer enter a width by typing the number because it gives me a "defined width" that if I try to change I refer to a calculator; I can use the grips that are often comfortable (but not accurate because if I move them perpendicularly to my reference line the measure never turns out accurate), but in certain cases need of widths that I want to have control.
Can anyone help me?

Well, in the creation phase, click the first point of the textm window, and the second you give it with coordinates (eg @5.5)

If you want to change an existing line of length from the top corner of the textm (it is highlighted by the osnap) for example 5<0, then take the grip of the textm width and move it to the end of this last line.

but in all this I do not cover to what it may serve to have a precise text window of size. Unlike the old monospaced texts, the current fonts have the distance between characters that depends on the width of the character itself, so a word type "object" will be longer than a word type "letter", equal to the characters used (7 for each word). It can only serve you for a justified text on the right and left, but in that case wide 5.00 or 4,98... what changes?

At the end I think you're right: I am a fairly intensive user of autocad, but maybe being self-taught or perhaps never having time to devote to a greater knowledge of the sw, leads me to settle in some situations I know and when these change they spy on me.
my question resided in the need to insert head centered within frames having defined width and to have no problems I wanted to set the same width also for the text.
the other aspect is purely of principle: I wanted to understand why in 2009 I had this function that sized the width of the text both from property and from fast properties and in 2012 instead not; a little like the attribution of the color of the layer when I create a new one (see my post) for which I have not yet found solution.

Micim,
I don't know if on lt 2012 something changed compared to my 2010, but in my 2010, when creating the testom, there is the width option (width).
if you impose it (only when you are creating) then you can change it from the property panel. otherwise just go for grip.
check if it also exists in your 2012

You're right! As you see, I don't even know how to read the command line options, I'm really obtuse! then I added "\l" to the command and here it asks me the width every time and then it makes me change as I wanted, as in the old times... thanks for the input and for the push to sew!
