upgrade Windows xp -> Windows 7

Bye to all,

I saw and tried windows 7 and I was impressed with speed and stability. in a few months the solidworks will cease support on xp and we will be obliged to migrate to be able to contact assistance.
I looked and for a pro I found three prices:

around 130 € (included) for oem
around 270 € (included) for viewing or xp upgrade
around 290 € (included) for retail

to site the workstations I could opt for upgrade or retail. I'm interested in knowing what the limits of retail are. if I uninstall it from a pc can I install it on another one?
because at this point, for 20 € of difference I would find os for future pcs, quinidi I could install again xp on workstations before selling them and keeping me the license of win 7.
Is that legal? for operating systems, until now, I only had oem...

Thank you all.

go quiet with the retail... you can reinstall all the times and on all the computers you want (of course one installation at a time).
I will also pass from view64 retail to seven retail... for the price difference that there is, it is not worth buying the upgrade... so I still have a view64 available for a second pc...

Besides seven could stay in our pcs for more time view... so it will be very likely to change pcs before its successor... a possible oem would be to be bought again. . .

He's talking to us at the office.
but compatibility with cad 3d how is it?
with sw I know that it is guaranteed since 2010 while pro-e I have not heard anything yet!
autocad instead told me that for versions prior to 2010 problems arise.. .
Has anyone tried yet?

Keep in mind that there is built-in virtual xp. I don't know if it's in all versions, but I think I'll get some finals.
otherwise solve with vmware.

but does not it become slow to manage a program (especially a cad) with a virtual machine? ! ?

It seems to me that the situation of pro/e > win 7 is this:
fully compatible with all builds wf5 (m010 on).
compatible with the build wf4 from the m110 onwards (it was released recently).

By the way, did anyone try the xp mode of win 7?
Does it work as a virtualization (and therefore a bowl for cad) or does it start in a mode of so old?
as it is known on win 7 some software no longer turn, and before moving to the new operating system, I would be interested to know if I can use these software decently.

you should check how it is possible to get a lic. oem, to me in the past it happened to have one by buying one component hw type a hd, or a mouse...

to what I read xp is emulated within 7 with the ms virtualization program, so I suppose speeds next to idle.

Bye.

:-)

my expensive hp laptop was born with win magazine, (32bit) and for free I have the opportunity to upgrade it to win 7... Obviously being a student I have a home version... use solidworks 2009... how many problems will generate any update of the s.o.?

any experience of such passages?

I would dare say how many problems you will solve from view to 7. solidworks is certified out of 7 since 2010.
