Hello, everyone.
I have the need to merge by means of a plug-in connection with iso plugs 8748 an element in steel not weldable inside a weldable steel tube. after the spindle operation will follow a welding operation (mig) on the outer tube near the elastic plug.

that you know there is a minimum distance between welding and plug? I would not want the soldering “cuocesse” the plug compromising its structural characteristics.

I couldn't find any prescription on the net.

Hi.

do you know there is a minimum distance between welding and plug?
I don't think there is a minimum distance because there are too many variables: the material to be soldered and therefore its transmissibility of heat; the type of welding, both as the type of supply and as the type of welding cord, and the resulting temperature reached; then there is the thickness to be soldered which infuses on heat transmission; etc.
the plug indicated by you is elastic so it works for interference and is in steel for springs that resists, if not mistaken, rather well to heat.
In my opinion unless weld at full penetration at a few millimeters using the torch as a flamethrower, there should be no problem

Do you have a design of how you want to make the assembly? If the plug can be removed, you can replace it after welding if you feel it can be deteriorated by the heat of the welding.

Although reading "elastic spine" I imagine it is not a structural part subject to considerable loads. .
If the loads were important, you would have used a "full" plug

Thank you. News ...is a structural part and loads are important. I would like to use ø16 iso 8748 thorns that have cut all respect (see attachment).

the idea was to mount the barbed part and then weld it all in the dime. I cannot mount the thorns after welding for dimensional problems: the pieces are not under the press and in any case after welding they must be moved with wagon. . .

putting the thorns to hammer is not a viable way because we talk about serial products in large number. . .
