welding

Hello guys, I should check a weld between plates and a profile. Welding develops in 3 sizes and therefore I do not only have a xy plan. I have established a terna of xyz axes, I have established the coordinates of the baricentres of the various strings regarding the system and subsequently I calculated the center of the complex. What do you recommend doing? consider stresses in xy and yz plans? I have the doubt that it does not work because the rectangle I can consider it slowly in a view but in the other orthogonal view the same rectangle (which represents the cord) becomes a line! otherwise I should consider it throughout its area also in the other view... I hope I explained. Thank you very much in advance! !

If you show the welds on the drawing, maybe we can reason.
However since you are using solidworks you have two ways to check welds with the program.
otherwise take eurocode 3 uni en 1993-1-8 and uni en 1993-1-9 where there are all welding and fatigue checks of welded joints.
However, you should see with the same force what is applied on the cords. surely you will have sigma in two directions of the two strings....and everyone has its component.
