windows - incorrect representation in plant

Bye to all,
I presented a problem with windows (family) and I think it is a problem of revit (or wrong settings, but I did not find a solution). I want to share it here, too. premetto use revit 2016
in a project insert a window (any system is good) place it on the right altitude (e.g. 1m from the ground). in fact the window is "cut" from the cutting plane and then in the plant you see correctly.
now the same window bring it to the top of the cutting plane (usually the plan is set to 1.2m) thus changing its height from the ground (which for example to 1.8m). and it is here that to me is the problem, in the plant the window (or at least its representation) can be seen even if in theory it should not be seen as above precisely the aforementioned cutting plan.
now do this experiment: change the "window" family or change the category of the window from "windows" to "doors"; reinsert it into the project and carry out the two previous operations or place it so that it is cut from the cutting line and then place it above. the family behaves correctly (you see if cut and "disappear" if it is above).
Has anyone noticed this problem? Is it just me? are there settings to be set correctly?
Thank you.OK.webpcorrectly cut windowNO.webpwindow positioned above the cutting floorDavanzale.webpsame problem also only for simple sill (if set as category "windows")

Premetto, is not a problem of cutting plans of various nested or family window (are correctly set and verified)

Could you show another view of this window? or 3d.
  • And that part that you see, an aniated family?
  • and need to see that part in all the views in the plant?

Hello alfredo,
What you see is a nest.
the problem as said at the beginning of discussion lies in the category. if you impose the family with category windows cutting floors do not work, if instead changing category in doors it all works correctly. you can try (revit 2016) with system windows and change the height from the ground above and below the cutting line.
I leave the link to the family "davanzale" (the second image) to make tests (revit2016)https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/11383494/davanzale return.rfa

I think the problem can be solved by combining these two settings:

for objects that do not have to see us in the plant, use this:
2016-04-05_2-14-35_plan.webpand then, add symbolic lines to represent those objects that you want to see in the plant, that only be seen when the window is cut, so:

2016-04-05_2-14-35_cut.webp

thanks to the cold, your situation highlighted adopted in most cases, but my question is: why with the category "windows" the object does not behave correctly? while changing only the category in "doors" is all right?
exists a set of the category "windows" that "imposes" that behavior? Where? can you change? and especially to you it also happens so with your windows?

I don't know why. all categories work in different ways. but these are the same solutions that they (autodesk) recommend for window families.

some voles can be found a solution to these problems by changing the height value of the cutting plane in the family. But not always, it does not work for individual objects, but for the whole family.
and especially to you it also happens so with your windows?
Yes, always that you add new solids to the window family you want to change those settings that I nombered in my previous Messaging.
