work on existing assemblies

Hi, I'd like some information for my gap. I have already tried to follow several small courses online but I did not find the answer.

provided that I am new in the fact of using sw industrially as I have it only and exclusively used by hobbyist and for some design to convert to dxf for the path machine tools .

problem:
I find myself working on assemblies created by other former employees. drawings are placed in folders divided into orders in a hd connected in the network and are all connected together. my task would be to take the mother design that is a reference design and make the right changes without going to affect other orders. are assiems where each detail has been saved so that it has its own table setting that automatically updates.

questions and doubts:
- if I make the pack and go from the mother's folder on a new folder named after the order, goes to create a set or stay connected?
- How do I automatically recognize the new set, the modified sub-axis? (he obviously tends to keep the old sub-axioms)
- by assembling from 500 to 1000 elements, as I do to ensure that each element remains with its own table setting,
-It would also be nice to keep the folder clean since each contract has copies of copies etc of the various axiemi and subassiemi. a file finds it in another 100 folders to make it simple

summing up, you want to copy a whole set that has files scattered in multiple orders. Right?
Are these files also shared between multiple assemblies?
Are the orders divided into multiple internal folders?
Should these files be renamed?

Yes, I should practically take the mother drawing as a reference that is nothing but an old plant formed by assemblies and subaxis in which I have to make the changes according to the layout of a client obviously saving it in a new store without going to change that mother. are very similar plants between them and differentiate one from another of few things so it would be useless to remake the project from scratch.

pack&go with prefix or suffix and releases from the old project.
then rename files that will not have to be equal to the old project
