working geometries turned off in solid modification environment.

Hello, everyone. .
I would extend and contract a cylinder imported from step files, but I do not want to use a solid face or a plane
of origin. I would rather create a new plan, but I find the working geometrieslan, axis, point....all off, for which
Some times it's very woody inventor.....any advice?

tried to save the step as ipt and then open it?
