passage to wf5 and intralink 9

as a company we are thinking of switching from the current intralink 3.4 and wf2 situation to new intralink 9 and wf5 versions.
I wanted your opinion on the new sw, those of the ptc must always obscure them and talk about incredible performance increases. for this reason I addressed you to have an opinion of "normal" users. .

I don't know how to tell you, because I never used it.
the differences between wf2 and wf5 are there and you notice.
Keep in mind that there are 6 years of difference between one version and the other and such a period in software development means a lot.
I think that the list of novelties can fill a quiet volume with a hundred pages.
then depends on what you do with pro/e.

right these days we are doing the same thing, passing to windchill pdmlink and to wf5.

as mentioned by maxopus, the difference between wf2 and wf5 is so much, regarding pdmlink still do not know, we are not yet operational.

I can tell you the whole operation costs a bang.

mainly we design plastic components and related mold studies. in more assemblies of electric motors, to max a hundred components

I am interested in knowing in particular if with wf5 you can notice a reduction of the times (to be understood also as minor problems to be solved or solved faster)

for now we have two servers, one to continue working and another to install the new software.

as soon as the new will be ready we will import the data and we will start to full regime.

It is not such a simple thing, installation and configuration problems are always engulfed.

think well to backup everything.

What's happened... the pcs (workstation) on which we work have become obsolete. to us will have to change two/three pcs but the company for which we work has a few hundred users.

if you have a few hundred cad operators, they are company that you can allow software-hardware upgrade.
the speech is very complex but, keeping the updated production tools is part of the game ... and then there is one thing that I don't understand, because they went to wf4 and not to wf5 directly? So maybe they save money?

If you want to pass only the licenses cad to the wf5 the policy of discounts there is. I requested an offer to my trusted var and if I passed to the wf5 I would save a lot of money compared to unpaid maintenance (if I had continued to pay for it).
Try to do the same thing with a cat or nx and then let me know how much money they ask you.
semmai problems are other (and common to all software houses) and that is to allow customers to choose between two types of maintenance, one for the simple renewal of the software and the other including also of the online service part.
For example in my case, after years of pro/e, I no longer need online assistance and would like to pay only the update of the software paying a 50% of the maintenance fee and instead this is not possible with any software.

I agree, but if you put us that it will soon pop up in the company windows 7 here is that my intralink 3.4 no longer holds and therefore also the content of wf4 is not enough.
I don't need to have super performance, I just need data management cad and nothing more and then I have to do the "double mortal leap" or stay so with all the risks that follow it..... and think we pay a lot of nice maintenance money for little or nothing!
