attention cd stands for change directory and then changes the directory (folder) in which you are at that moment... once entered the appropriate folder c:\programs\dassault systemes\b20\intel_a\code\bin then type the command you need to run cnext/regserver

I also like "setf_design" I have this annoying problem with the previews of the v5 cat files in win7 64bit. I tried to launch the command string but the result is not the one hoped: the first time I access a directory containing the files I see correctly the previews (directory located on the server), but then if I go out and return to the same directory the previews are no longer seen. I tried to restart the pc, rehale the command string, but nothing to do!! !
the same thing happens if I take the same files and cover them on the local disk. . .
I searched a bit on the internet but it seems that the only discussion about it is this...it seems very strange to me that no one using windows 7 does not have the same problem...
this thing is very frustrating!!!!
p.s. with xp 64bit everything works perfectly

be careful when you type in cnext/regserver command because the folder of the prograama in win7 is different

so check to be in the right position, and that between the / and cnext there is a space.

Hello, thank you for your answer. as soon as I read the post I immediately tried to perform the new string and with great surprise I noticed that the previews were correctly seen!!! even if I changed directories and then I returned the previews they saw equally. ..fantasy!!! :biggrin:
happy and happy to have solved my problem I restarted the pc and...... Too much previews are gone! as written on my first post I tried to rerun the string several times, to reboot several times catia and pc, but nothing to do!!! previews are displayed the first time and then just!!!
a similar thing happened to me with the previews of pdf (use adobe reader x): They didn't see the previews, at least not all. .. Looking on the internet I found a special fix, and the problem was solved. now I see all the previews of pdf.
I think the problem with catia is something like that....
Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?
or at least what is caused? ?Thank you all in advance. .

normally the disappearance of the icons happens when you have one or more realized of catia and you disconnect one leaving the newest, so surely the solution could be to remove and reinstall the realized of caia that you have now.
When you want to do this, make sure that when you launch the cnext \regserver command, your system is in administrator mode, I noticed that the win 7 security limiter greatly limits the execution of commands.

So... just to shed light on our situation:
we have recently passed to window 7 as they have delivered us the new workstations, so it is a pc "virgin" on which it is installed only catia v5r20. the preview problem affects all my colleagues who have the new workstations, so I exclude that it is only my problem. the user we use is set as administrator.
Since you are also +o- in our same situation (win7 64bit + catia v5r20) I can't understand why you have no problem with previews while we...any idea?

Also I cannot simulate this situation, you should try in a machine with xp to create a folder with one or more cat files and through the property panel, make them in "read only" (the single file not the folder, after which transposed the folder into the new machines.
the same type of test I would also do it through the server.
