I have been using the 2012 version for a few days, and there are some things that leave me puzzled, or maybe I miss update. I don't know.
However I am trying to load from the library, a whim the parametric wood that I have already used several times without problems; now when I try to import it into the project that I am developing, revit tells me that it is impossible to load some or all files of the selected family, which you need to unwield files of the component category. I would be grateful if you would explain to me what happened to my poor goat, in use for at least 6 or 7 years, and that I didn't think I had to retire.
Thank you.

from what I have understood, especially if they are nested families, it is necessary to reopen them (as family file) in the 2012 version and verify the possible errors reported or that create problems (it seems that you experience problems with the constraints).
possibly it is necessary to redesign the parts that create problems, better remake it completely in the 2012 version

I hope it's just an isolated problem otherwise if you have to redesign the families that over time a professional has done there is to shoot...

I agree. but perhaps most of the time, little adjustments are enough. however remake a family with a newer version could present positive aspects, how to exploit the new modeling of new versions.

this is true, but sometimes you don't have all this time to remodel already created families...

Thanks, it's not good news, anyway. Now I see what I can do then I tell you.
we should prohibit the wooden roofs in the valley of Aosta!!! ! ! !

then, it seems that opening the family of the component (the whim in my case) from the library then saving it in the project that I am developing, the component is usable.
even after saving it, if I try to import it directly from the project as a component I get back the usual difficulty and tells me that it is impossible to load some or all the files of the selected family, that it is necessary to unravel file of the component category and does not open.
I can work anyway.

Going forward with the work I realized that the same thing happens to me with almost all the components I have in the library, library that contains elements found a little everywhere, in recent years.
I would be curious to know if it happened or the same happens to some other revit user.
Thank you.

I also presented this problem with a window door, and I solved as you said, erik, I open the family and with "load in the project" I can upload it and to issue it but the materials are to be reassigned. I am using revit 2011....

..... I can charge it and instruct it but the materials are to be reassigned. I am using revit 2011....
If you have used custom materials and textures for such families, you must add in the "render file path" folder containing such materials/texture.

What happens to open a drawing made with 2011 in 2012?
Does it make you mistake about the families and erase them?
today I sent the acceptance for the renewal of the sub with the upgrade to the suite because I had only revit arch. and I would not have had the premium suite for which another 400 euri more
I would like to have to change my families, especially some very complex locks.

open projects made even with 2010 and no problem found on families...but maybe it's all ass!

hopefully well:rolleyes:
If not it would be the case of making a "class action" is that what they say?
towards the autodesk asking for the refund of the lost time

dubito functions...they didn't force you to update the software
I'm kidding! On the contrary, maybe let us know if you encounter street problems by doing

and I wouldn't have had the premium suite
What is the "premium suite"?
I had no problem with reassigning materials (for now!) but it touches me to open almost all the old files of the components I have in the library and import them, from time to time, into the work I am doing at that time.
I have not yet tried to verify whether the imported components for use in 2012 are then reopenable in 2011.

if you are running the sub for revit+autocad in July send you a usb key with:

that "edile" (premium) includes the following products, which are granted as "free" update:
autocad®
autocad® architecture
autocad® mep
autocad® structural detailing
autodesk® showcase®
autodesk® sketchbook® designer
autodesk® revit® architecture
autodesk® revit® mep
autodesk® revit® structure
autodesk® 3ds max® design

a good problem for those who, momentarily, hold their foot in two shoes. I should copy the whole library to another folder to dedicate it to 2012 and remember to use one or the other depending on the case. not all my colleagues installed 2012.
