import family of ver. previous in ver. 2012

I have been using the 2012 version for a few days, and there are some things that leave me puzzled, or maybe I miss update. I don't know.
However I am trying to load from the library, a whim the parametric wood that I have already used several times without problems; now when I try to import it into the project that I am developing, revit tells me that it is impossible to load some or all files of the selected family, which you need to unwield files of the component category. I would be grateful if you would explain to me what happened to my poor goat, in use for at least 6 or 7 years, and that I didn't think I had to retire.

from what I have understood, especially if they are nested families, it is necessary to reopen them (as family file) in the 2012 version and verify the possible errors reported or that create problems (it seems that you experience problems with the constraints).
possibly it is necessary to redesign the parts that create problems, better remake it completely in the 2012 version

I agree. but perhaps most of the time, little adjustments are enough. however remake a family with a newer version could present positive aspects, how to exploit the new modeling of new versions.

problem very much felt here in Trentino and especially in südtirol

then, it seems that opening the family of the component (the whim in my case) from the library then saving it in the project that I am developing, the component is usable.
even after saving it, if I try to import it directly from the project as a component I get back the usual difficulty and tells me that it is impossible to load some or all the files of the selected family, that it is necessary to unravel file of the component category and does not open.

I also presented this problem with a window door, and I solved as you said, erik, I open the family and with "load in the project" I can upload it and to issue it but the materials are to be reassigned. I am using revit 2011....

If you have used custom materials and textures for such families, you must add in the "render file path" folder containing such materials/texture.

a good problem for those who, momentarily, hold their foot in two shoes. I should copy the whole library to another folder to dedicate it to 2012 and remember to use one or the other depending on the case. not all my colleagues installed 2012.
