Good evening to all,
I write to you for a problem that I found in linking an excel file to a set. I explain better: inside a folder in my pc I created a set of components and assemblies connected to an excel sheet. being a project of a complex machine I divided the various parts and subaxis of the machine into various subfolders; I finally created a general set in the initial folder. always here I created my beautiful excel file that manages all the components of the machine. to connect the parameters I always used the "connect" function. but we come to the point: until I work in this folder there are no problems, if I change a quota also changes the assembling but if I cover all the catella from another part, to have two different designs, the drawing does not change even if I see that the link to the excel sheet is correct....it always keeps the quotas of the file of origin and does not update a bat. What can that be?
I add that the folder where I created all the design is a project folder.

thanks in advance

Andrea

but why do not create links with an ipt part that contains the various parameters instead of a xls sheet??
if you insert it together, you can freely manipulate it as file management, references, etc.
copy, save by name, trekking design etc.

Hi.
It's just what I'm looking for, but I can't do it. practically I have to start from a basic component, connect other components to it and if I change its width others adapt.. . example:the basic component has a quota called "race" and others must be wide making a function like "race+20mm"...how can I do?

as eugenesis says:
link to a .ipt file, where you have all your "sensitive" data in the parameters table.. .
or link to a basic .ipt file, e.g.: "Pneumatic cylinder body", where in the parameters table you have the "race" parameter that controls the extrusion of the cylinder profile.
you can in this case, in the file where you made the connection, re-use the parameter "race" and use it for a new parameter "race+20 mm"
