hi to everyone, I'm not a designer in the strict sense of the word, I know the parametric cads from the university (the mechanical drawing exam I did it with solid edge v5 seems to me), and until recently I had an infarinated solidworks, inventor and the same solid edge. and now I come to the question:
which among the software considered mid have a more complete suite regarding all-round design?
I ask this question because the idea would be to integrate all business designs within the same suite. after taking courses on inventor and solidworks I noticed that apart from the commands for the use of which we need mechanically are equivalent, solid edge also he did not seem very different; always according to our demands, but the question that has left me perplexed on inventor is that while the other 2 have a set of additional applications to create cabling, routing, illustrations, etc. the autodesk system seemed to me only projected on the mechanical question.
our company designs everything internally (mechanically, electrically and software- automation) besides me and 2 others we take care of everything concerning installation, fittings and external maintenance, the request would be except for the plc that would be designed in siemens all the mechanical and electromechanical part we would like to use only one software.
I hope I've been quite clear, thank you all for the answers.

ps: moreover we are moving for a software for the writing of dexteristic type quadrispace that if I do not go wrong is also a module of solid edge, on autodesk it does not seem to me there is anything similar.

hi, for what I know, solidworks is the cad on which you can find multiple third-party modules made for specific needs. so, if you do not find the form you need created by dassault, you will certainly find it made by third parties. I don't know if solidedge can boast the same variety of options. I'd let inventor go.

inventor has everything integrated, mechanical part, electrical, mold, fem, simulation, routing cables and pipes, built-in vault (base ),libraries of screws (I don't know if sw has them or you have to buy them separately).

As stefanobruno says, as far as I know it is the exact opposite of what you say.. in inventor there are all the modules you need.

I have used several cads in my business and sincerely if there is to compare inventor with solidworks there is to say that inventor is the digital3d balds while solidworks is scarce of computing accessories and its toolboxes are the damnation of the user. for text, modeling and management I still prefer solidworks.
It is true, of solidworks there are a few third-party things however it is a break because you have to horn up here and there what it takes to work. inventor has everything inside.

I confess I haven't worked with inventor for five years, so I don't know how he evolved. for what I remember had everything inside as you say, but it was basic functions that were just trying to get you to buy the dedicated module. For example, there was the fem, but I don't think it could be called such...solidworks at the time, it integrated full cosmos. Then, I repeat, I do not know how the one and the other are proposed today.. .

First of all thanks, we have professional inventor and in the package there is nastran, autocad (mechanical and electrical), navisworks besides the vault and some other package; inside inventor there is also "presentation"; that is not comparable to composer (for the same admission of the dealer), that however after trying both I can say that they are not comparable to quadrispace (always for our needs).@ Stefanobruno what are you talking about? apart from autocad electrical, I don't see anything else.

thanks to all

thanks for the answer, so it is clear that we do not know our software well, and probably not even know who sells it since it has never presented such functionality. I'll study the matter, trying to understand the machinacy.
