Good morning to all,
I write you as a complete neophyte of the world of modeling 3d. I hope that this is the right section and if I was wrong I immediately apologize, but it is a question of transversal discussion that I did not know where to place.
then I take care of the realization of small gardens.
I have always worked "on the field", using exclusively autocad for design 2d and any sections.
but now I would like to try to make the next step and start to understand a little more also of 3d modeling, so as to make even the works more appealing for the customer.
But I leave from 0.
I have given an eye to sketchup guides, and I started to take some confidence with the sw, starting from an imported dwg, but in the management of materials and components it seems a bit 'cooled and unprofessional (or at least not professional enough to be presentable.
Also it is not clear to me, once I created all the scene as I carry it?
I have read that there are engines to render, but it is not clear to me what they serve and how they work.
I swear to you, I tried to get an idea, even banging our heads, but around there is a myriad of information that often presupposes knowledge that I do not currently have.
for example I read other sw like 3ds max, 4d cinema, archicad, civil 3d, and others....
do the same sketchup stuff? What differences are there between them?
I think I've made you realize that I'm a total niubbo on the subject, I'm right at level 0.
thanks to anyone who will take the trouble to answer me.
See you soon!

but you do not understand what you want to get, a good graphic representation of the garden, photorealistic images from imported designs, or what?

I would like to get some good models from 2d. from the dwg to a product on which I can then work to get garden views.
I do not ask to arrive at making exasperately real, but a good compromise.
For example, sketchup materials seem very limited. . .

there are various solutions for green modeling.
You can try now bryce, since it has been free for a few months, it amounts to dwg, and start putting green, then run the render. or view, similar but more professional, there are various versions. are sw to display territories and nature, try which works best with your dwg and with which you find yourself better.
otherwise a unique solution that allows you to design the gardens in all stages, and it would also allow you to replace autocad is vectorworks landmark (the latter is actually a vw module) which also has a very good level rendering module.

Thank you very much, I will definitely try them!
I take advantage of your kindness only to ask you about the questions on engines to render, just to understand a little more at the operational level.
Let's imagine we made a sketchup model, starting with the dwg.
what are the next steps? How do I get it? what I would like to understand is exactly how you get from a model to the finished product.
Thanks again

depends on the program you use, there are plugins that make you work directly inside the sw, for sketcup there are some including vray. othermeti exposes in a format that the program to make you use accept, you have to check the formats and do tests.

last question, then I don't stress you anymore:)
how does the image capture of rendering work?
I read that you have to place cameras.
I'm saying stupid things?
