What does it mean to iron quotas? if you iron geometry and in the selection you also take the odds these follow the geometry. be careful to select from right to left otherwise the iron does not work properly.
if you only need to hook the quota from one point to another, simply select the grip of the extension line and place it where you want (always the snaps activated allow it)

you see a series of odds aligned with each other horizontally
I want to move them up to iron them at the same time with window (from right to left)
all quotas move up but they remain attached to the points to which they were referred
if instead I want to iron to the right of a figure to which a quota is linked
I iron myself the figure geom. but nn the quota line that should be updated increasing its value

Could be that the file you try to edit is native to classic autocad, not mechanical?

If you change a listed item, the quota will automatically update if the share is associated. select the quota and check the properties if the associative property is yes.
If it wasn't, you have to open the options, user preferences tab (if I don't remember bad) and snacks "make new membership odds".
If you want, you can make odds associated with the dimriassocia command.

I find the most harmful associative quotas of the problems that should solve.
If you have an isolated rectangle, they work well, if you have anything connected to the extremes when you go to change the object often happens randomly.

Yes, attention in selection is a decisive factor, I agree. but unfortunately not enough.
The problem is, almost always in the drawings there are common points to certain entities.
Let's make a banal example. the edge of a pillar coincident with the line of a beam edge (as well as so many others.. the center of 2 concentric circles representing the section of a pipe, the edge of a window in a wall, the axis of a steel column etc etc.).
