I don't know what information you have but I assure you that in v6 with the simple mechanical package there is the possibility to insert 3d texts!

You're right, with this command you can... with the v5 version I did the same thing saving the text in dxf format that I then opened, copied and glued into the sketch.
p.s. are you using catia v6 after migrating from v5 of all files or started immediately with the new version?
