mmmm... I see it a little hard. I had the 2000d picture and with inventor it was really worth turning averagely complex assemblies. I don't know how if the wire with the rendering, maybe there is faster, personally if I had the money I would take a painting 4000 and go more on the safe. I repeat, from personal experience, the 2000 picture has disappointed me a lot and also doing a quick search on google, I saw that it does not shine much in performance and all recommend a 4000 or 5000 picture if you need more computing power.
Of course the 4000 costs 700 euros instead of 400, but perhaps it is worth it if the employment is mainly the professional one.

I would advise you to ask your dealer to try the card before you buy it, given the not reasonable price or to make a google search on comparison tests with other cards similar to yours with rendering programs.

depends on the software... if used "normally" the video card is solely responsible for viewing, not rendering that instead is fully charged to the cpu.

Look at you bench of solidworks for viewport, firepro v5900 apparently is faster and costs less. the new firepro w5000 that obviously should be faster than the previous ones, less than 500 euros.

In my opinion, if you found it at good price (but at what price?) I would recommend the painting 4000 that is definitely better than your ati and is a great card, regarding the firepro ati, I do not know it very well, but if it costs less, I would tell you to take that one.

I think v5900 is not equal to a 4000, I would say rather that it is equal to a 2000 quandro.
I recently bought a workstation with an amd v7900 that on paper seemed to have performance higher than the picture of the same price range. in windows is detected as better and gets a higher score. in swx it seemed more performing nvidia and the test solidwork performance test fully confirms my suspicion. I stress that the performance on amd is lower despite the cpu of the workstaion amd is better than the cpu where I have nvidia.
I, in case, would acquire a painting, but, as they have already suggested, I would wait for the kepler series and at that point you should thicken until you change the whole pc.

As for the pc I'm not sure to change it.. In the worst case the pc for a year or two will hold this (which, however, discreetly does its work even so, ) or if satisfied with the new video card, I will keep it for more time :d.

on this pc I do a bit of everything...modelling, management of normally medium small assemblies (up to a max of 250 pieces...) and rarity of larger.
rendering with photoview but not only, I am trying other rendering engines and programs. . .
the price to which I found the painting 4000 (580€) seems good to me even if definitely not brown that money...
do new models know when they come out?

Forget about the new tab for now (you wouldn't notice the change, if not at least part and, perhaps, at the "ethical" level. go overclock (with that asus do whatever you want) and you will already notice sensitive differences.
keep aside 600 euros for the next purchase of a more performing machine in the complex.

for the record I also have an asus p5q and how overclock is fantastic! I have a core duo e8400 and I managed to bring it to 3.6 ghz quietly changing only timings for the ram. the performances in the games have increased on average of 25 fps! :eek:, while for inventor there was an increment, but not very eclatating with a set of about 6000 parts.

Since solidworks is suceptible more to the cpu, I'd like to see how he rides with a similar axieme, but unfortunately I don't have it.

I am very happy with my video card, the geforce 560 you oc, I must say that just the frequency of the cpu rises, its speed grows almost exponentially.

mah, at this point I would also expect the new kepler processor, or as I said, if I needed, I would go with the picture 4000 provided that its price fell, because 580 heuri are not bruscolini!:biggrin:
