Because I've pulled opencascade out to ask for something:

when I use linux cae (I installed caelinux2009) I can't open the step files. It tells me that I need to install the opencascade libraries.
Can any of you help me?

Thank you very much
I also used caelinux2009 (I recommend that you switch to the 2010 version that has just been ) and it seems to me that opencascade libraries should already be there, however if you have to install the best thing is to do it as a repositoty.

go to the page http://www.opennovation.org/ubuntu/ there are instructions to add the openovation.org repository that also contain opencascade and more.

However since he talked about it in some opencascade post is not a real cad, it is more a development environment for cad applications

Hello everyone,
after progecad2006 made me kill for the umpteenth time under win7, I uninstalled it and tried all the cads mentioned in the thread.
There's no one who saved himself!
the only ones that touched the sufficency were planted. . .
I don't look for great things, a clean 2d that opens dxf and dwg and maybe allows keyboard commands, autocad-like. . .
I ask too much!? !

Greetings,
Canister.

Turns out...
Medusa 4 isn't okay? I found it pretty good. What trouble did he give you?

has a good impact and commercial-use license is ok.
However, it is very dissimilar from the autocad setting and there are no keyboard commands; that for me I use them by autocad 9 is a must-have;-)

Now I have on draftsight, it doesn't seem bad at all, but I don't want to say it out loud :-d

Hi.
Canister.
Yes, keyboard controls are a nice thing that only have autocad and rhino.
In reality there are also better methods, such as the marking menus of alias.

I don't know draftsight, but if you're okay, I'll try it soon.

I'm trying it (draftsight) seems very interesting to me even though it's too young from my point of view.
at the moment lack the following things that in my opinion are very useful:

calculation of the properties of the regions
Yearly quotas
bidirectional link to excel sheets for the creation of tables (low modality, which from excel updates the cad).
Full keyboard management to make powerful scripts. (there are often functions that can only be implemented with mouse intervention).
There are others but I still have to find out.

greetings

all right now with draftsight, but I didn't understand why with the dxfs it takes a double click to open them while the dwg biaogna select them from within the pro... :-/

Did someone try the latest version of narocad? ?
(I think he was also mentioned earlier in the thread...
http://sourceforge.net/projects/narocad/the latest release I'm using it a bit and it doesn't seem so bad to be an open-source (and not just freeware. . ).
Obviously it is not minimally comparable to a commercial software level, but for simple things it is nice to use (sinky that does not have the table of 3d...)

I have been using doublecad for almost a year and I look great, now version 3 is also out, I don't understand why you don't consider it... it's a freeware, certainly not an opensource and it's only running under windows, but I solved the problem of the autocad license, not a little

Maybe you didn't read the previous topics well, or you didn't do a search on dublecad.
Look who uses it like you and has also been reviewed in this topic.

mark the release of the new version of I'm falling, probably the world's smallest free cad 2d (15 mb on disk).

very much autocad-like, manages only the proprietary format, but as a tool for quick sketches vectors, maybe with raster background, it's really remarkable.

I tried to download, following the link of ezio, the free version of doublecad, but it is a "pro" version that lasts 30gg. I tried a second time paying great attention to all the steps, but the result was the same. exists or does not exist a truly free version without expiry, and from where to download it?
I tried it, however and it opened correctly, although very slowly, a 2d file, little heavy, in dwg 2010.
the same file with wincad, which I had downloaded long ago following this discussion, did not open it.

It works a little weird... I try to explain. automatically when you download doublecad they give you the pro version (if you start using that don't worry when the thirty days expire you activate the free version). If you want to install the free version right away you have to go search through the downloaded folders and you will see that you have both the pro and the free one, from there you can choose to install the free without going through the pro... hope it is clear I also find it a somewhat strange way but obviously they keep you to get to know their version at a fee. . .

if you want to install the free version immediately...
confirm, it is better to abort the installation to This is point, then launch setup.exe from xt director (and not xtpro) where the file has been decompressed doublecaduniversal_v3.exe from 200 mb above.

Thank you both. I'll try to let the 30 days pass, then eventually I'll follow the board of cadlandians.
I need it sporadically to open recent dwg that send me, while for processing I use my old autocadlt. (mixed).
It is not said that if I find it really friendly, you do not use it directly.
