with iv2012 improved the translation of iges and the possibility to close surfaces, if the work you do on the surfaces is simple to recommend doing a test before buying rhino.
I rarely do import into iges, but sincerely I have noticed improvements in recent years (always fewer holes), I hope iv2012 continue on the road, also because it has to dialogue directly with alias and I see it hard if it does not translate well the surfaces.

Tuesday I was at the presentation of inventor 2012, well, I was "sufficiently" disappointed, in the sense that the greater innovation made or the "racing partner" is obtained by not loading the various modules (vba, etc etc etc etc etc) that will be loaded only when they will be requested by the user: personally it doesn't seem to me a great innovation, because I use sempra vba and so that I will have to wait again after launching inventor, I asked if it was possible to launch it with all the modules (i.e. as it is now with 2011) and the answer was simple: No.
ilogic I do not use it, but it seems to have pushed on that for this realase, fusion, has not changed much, if not the interface with inventor that is more instantaneous.
As for the mini-tools to me they seem a real nonsense put in this state, as they are half and half and do not even work for all commands.

I don't know. I feel like a lot of "alodole species." . .

the fact is that until 2011, in the autodesk site, the basic version of inventor was indicated as "inventor suite"... now it is simply referred to as "inventor" or "inventor professional" and never mentions autocad mechanical.
boh... vabo, so much to me it is better to pass to the new ultimate, so I save the sub of 3ds max.
If I happen to resent the commercial I will try to clarify better.

no one obliges you to update, but if you want to stay "in step" it will be mandatory to switch to the new suites.
what can be done and before it was not possible is to buy only the inventor license (without acadm, in this case I would suggest to hold an old acad).

I was at the presentation. if you have a routed system you will pass to a complete with the increase of the maintenance fee.
from what I heard the premium replaces "inventor suite", while autocad mechanical will be replaced by the standard product suite.
Nude inventor (without mechanical) will be sold to 5300,00 list, I don't know how much the subscription will cost.
