my working situation.

Hello everyone,
I am a master aerospace engineering graduate and I would like a council or opinion on my current working and future situation.
I will soon be running my work contract at a precision mechanical company (in all sizes for 90% vehicles and heavy vehicles). They are responsible for quality control, therefore sampling, control of testing and control boards, monitoring of the various stages of work, statistic analysis and more. My problem is that I'm bored to death in this sector!!! I'd like to do analysis, drawings, calculations (if done during theses, internships, university projects and autonomously)...so all that is about fem, cad and cam.
As already said, I will soon expire the contract but there are very good chances that they renew it (perhaps indefinitely) . the pay is not bad but the problem is just the kind of work I do. My intention is to refuse a possible renewal and look for something more pleasing to me, only I have a [bleep] fear (I am practically in a state of perennial anxiety) to find nothing and remain unemployed after a year of work and that frightens me! Do you have any advice to give me? What would you do for me?
p.s. I am 26 years old, 27 in September I graduated in July 2016 with maximum votes and started working immediately in the maintenance of civil aircraft in September as an intern (the thing I like but you know alitalia: secret and after three months I have arrived in the current company

hi, I talk to you as a peer and as a colleague...I too until recently I was in your own situation, before I did an internship in the Italian branch of a big company.The problem is that it was a commercial company (and I hate the commercial)..all those cards, those codes, that bureaucracy ... I let you imagine.for more an engineer was hired with a contract trade, which is all to say.. the head "technical office" knew yes and no what it meant h7 , the rest was unknown (or most thought the brains of the foreign mother's house).. in a few words exploitation to gogo without learning anything. I had the job assured but I didn't think twice to leave even without having an alternativeSo much for what they paid me I would have weighed less on the shoulders of my loved ones to stay at home and probably I would have learned more by studying for my own sake things... for my luck, I had 2 job offers, I spent both interviews and now I arrived where I wanted to arrive. .to work in a small company where I learn more every day.. what I wanted to say with all sta tarantella is that if you have courage and perseverance something you find, the world is great and full of opportunity. It is not that one has to settle for the first pair of shoes he finds if these go tight. ..what I can advise you however is to start looking for from now on,while jobs, seen that you are afraid...and the first proposal that binds you threads away...so that it is difficult and tiring because you close several doors in the face and many mancos answer you when you send cv (and maybe miss read them) but the law of the big numbers is not only valid for banks fortunately. ..you will see that there will be someone ready to value you somewhere,you just have to look for and have patience....dedicate those good 10 20 minutes per day to candidatures (almalaurea,linkedin etc etc.) and wait.. .

p.s in any way reflect well whether it is or not the case of leaving,I want to say..Is it safe that in your company there is no job rotation? Are you sure this job doesn't hold on to you at all?
Also before you leave, even if you find another job,you can always make known (in extremis) your discomfort to your current company if you like it as a reality and the working environment is good...as you say, feel not naked.. having known you in these months if they have a half need they could please you (instead of taking in a few months a potential unknown). .

they spoke at the beginning of job rotation... I had to do 2 max 3 months in the quality office to know the work done in the company and then technical office, with the promise of numerous training courses with relative certification (software cad cam, management, English, lean six sigma and so much more) but this was not minimally maintained (now they have passed more than 6 months and I expire the contract at the end of July) ... I find myself going through the working day to make copy of excelgri files the only positive thing is the lap between the machines to make sample measurements of the pieces, which was very useful to me since with calibers and instruments to measure I had little experience and dexterity . Given the imminent expiration I will make my proposals when they decide from the high planes... I am afraid that, since the saturated technical office wants me to stay in this department (they will retire a couple of colleagues who write production flows. . that is nothing other than copying past files excel, to the maximum translate them from English to Italian). .

With the hunger of technicians that there is now I think that this is really the last problem of a mechanical ing....:finger: if you don't have family/children/mutual look around quietly, I don't think you'll have any trouble finding a more exciting job.

Why do you have so much doubt? start looking for what you want to do if you don't find it immediately accepts the new contract and keeps looking for the job you want when you find it you quit. You're 26 years old to stay s3nza work is bad so keep your work rough while you're looking for another...

If I can take advice... the job you look for while you work (out of working hours) not when you stayed at home and you have to pay rent with savings. you are on the phone on lunch break, the evening, the weekend and you try to fix the talks in the evening and Saturday (difficult of Sunday in Italy)

changing business and/or job is tiring (and annoying) but when a job doesn't like or is not well in the company, changing company is the best thing

I mean, it's true that even that serves, but at this point it seemed much more logical to get you to do some trick to support those who assemble/mountain or as a designer (as in my case).. from me there are those who do that job but you don't get so into the ut as a pure technician (who then the technician should develop also managerial skills over time is another speech, but it's not his focus) . did they all come in like this, or did they have their full role immediately? in the technical office of my company are all graduates except the head graduate in mechanical ing... the last entered have done a month and something in production and then after a course immediately to draw. . . I have been in quality for more than 6 months with a role still not well defined apart the control cards of the various operations, then they give me things to do according to the needs type to take to sample of the turned pieces and check the quotas because there were complaints from the customers (among other things I find myself at times of pome that I have nothing to do) .. they told me that once you understand the operations that they do in factory I would pass up to flank the office. . .
ps. even the workplace does not stimulate... I come from a big city and find myself on a mountain at 60 km (all curved street) from the city

In my opinion many companies continue to mask the lack of time/soldes to properly and quickly train employees and to exploit the current situation (a lot of graduates with 0 experience who do not know how things are) to do the cabbages them ... otherwise there are no paradoxical situations to which I have witnessed, besides certain discussions I read in the forums: neoassunti with 2 internships and masters that are put to make the "scartoffari/documentaristi" and others that are left to the landing without the least flanking (of the type: there is the pc, the mouse...if anything happens are your own cabbage). .often we are illusive while the most coveted works are the usual ones known to make them (and often they have left them just from them without doing job rotation and various cabbages)...it is normal starting from 0 but often this is used as an excuse to demans/plate where you want people who might also be very valid in what they want to do because they are passionate. Perhaps the company has seen that you are a valid resource and is trying to make you play a role that, even if you don't get excited, is important for its operation.
probably in that position the company struggles to find a valid resource.
It is not a wrong reasoning, often in companies it happens. would be appreciable if you were at least explaining why the role differs from what "promise" in the contractual phase.

on the speech of the change of work, even if it is not ethically correct, I would accept regardless of the renewal and then I would look for more in the time cutouts.
Unfortunately in the world of work when you have an indefinite contract you have more contractual power.

I see that you are a country, I am also a country that I have been living in Tuscany on the Apennines (according to me you don't get to 2000 inhabitants) 60km from a town as mentioned above. .

I understand why a few months ago I was in the same situation....if you did something that would hold you and you would probably not think about it much more than that (even because with the means of today:cell,skype etc.. It is no longer like once.. loneliness you live it differently) but if, as you write, what you do not like, everything is emphasized..it is all normal, don't worry. But look carefully at your things and evaluate carefully. .

Look, I don't know what keeps you from looking for another job while you're already working. Keep in mind that looking for job from unemployed is much more difficult especially if you are neo graduates with experience equal to 0. with difficulty using a caliber I think your employers are simply giving you time to get familiar with the working environment. If you feel you can take greater responsibility talk to those who will renew your contract by reminding him of the promises made at the time of hiring and asking if the growth possibilities are still present or if in the meantime the internal dynamics to the company have changed.
